ST VINCENT’S 3-18 KILMACUD CROKES 1-8
Galway hurling had the famous Connolly brothers of Castlegar and Dublin have the Connollys of St Vincent’s!
Brothers Thomas, Keith and Diarmuid combined to tally 3-8 of the Marino side’s score as Vinnies outclassed Crokes in Sunday’s opening Evening Herald Dublin SHC ‘A’ semi-final at Parnell Park.
Vincent’s were the better team from first whistle til last with first half goals from Keith and Thomas Connolly helping them to a 2-9 to 1-6 interval lead.
Keith’s goal in the 12th minute was the score of the game. The majestic Ronan Fallon initiated the move with a superb catch before finding the highly influential Diarmuid Connolly who opened the door for his older brother to angle a clinical drive to the net.
Crokes got the perfect half-time fillip when Kevin O’Loughlin goaled from a close range free but it took the Stillorgan side 20 minutes of the second half to register another score.
At that stage Vincent’s were 3-14 to 1-6 to the good and could start planning for next Sunday’s county final when they will face reigning champions, Ballyboden St Enda’s, who will be attempting to win their fourth title in-a-row.
Vincent’s third goal had arrived in the 54th minute when corner-forward Thomas Connolly grabbed his second goal of the game when he batted a crossfield delivery over the head of the advancing Macdara O hOgáin.
