KILMACUD CROKES 2-14 O’TOOLE’S 1-15
Two first half goals from Donal McGovern and James Burke helped Crokes to a two-point victory in this Evening Herald Dublin SHC ‘A’ Group B encounter in Silver Park on Wednesday night.
McGovern’s goal came in the 11th minute when he was in the right place at the right time after the O’Toole’s defence failed to deal fully with a long free from Seán McGraty. Five minutes later Crokes raised their second green flag when Burke applied the finishing touches following good approach play from Aodán de Paor.
Howevever, a goal from O’Toole’s ’keeper Brendan McLoughlin in the 22nd minute ensured that there was on two points between the sides at the interval, 2-6 to 1-7, following fine points from the lively Barry O’Rorke and McGrath.
In the second half O’Toole’s cause was not helped by the fact that Dublin senior Kevin Flynn accounted for their entire eight-point haul as Crokes held on for victory to make it a three-way tie at the top of the table between the Larriers, Crokes, and St Vincent’s.
Ross O’Carroll ended a long injury enforced lay-off by returning to competitive action for the last ten minutes.
