Two Oisín O’Rorke goals saw reigning champions Kilmacud Crokes defeat Na Fianna 3-18 to 0-14 in Dublin SHC ‘A’ Group C action in Parnell Park on Friday night.
Crokes got off to a flying start with O’Rorke’s first goal in the third minute and four minutes later Seán McGrath rattled the net for their second goal.
The accuracy of Denis Forde, who hit three first half points from play, and Joey Boland kept the Mobhi Road men in the hunt but in the second half Crokes’ supremacy increased with O’Rorke grabbing his second goal, Kevin McLoughlin finished with 0-7 (4f, 1 ’65′) in his account, McGrath 1-3, and Ross O’Carroll 0-4 from play.
In the second game in Donnycarney two second half goals saw St Brigid’s overhaul St Jude’s to win 3-10 to 0-17 in SHC Group C.
Jude’s led 0-8 to 1-3 at the break with Sam Lehane, Dublin U21 Tom Devlin, and Joseph McManus all on the scoreboard and Ruairí Dunbar netting for the Russell Park men.
However, it was the second half goals from Colin Lynch and a great finish by Daire Plunkett which saw Brigid’s claim the points.
Over in O’Toole Park Ballinteer St John’s finished with a scoring flurry to defeat Faughs 1-15 to 2-9 in Group B.
Faughs led heading down the home straight before points from Aodhán Clabby, Joey Maher, Fergal Chambers and Glenn Whelan steered St John’s to victory.
