CUALA 2-10 O’TOOLE’S 0-9
Cuala completed the senior double when they defeated O’Toole’s in Saturday afternoon’s Dublin AHL Division 1 final at O’Toole Park to add the league title to the SHC they won when beating St Jude’s at the end of October.
The Dalkey men showed that despite their recent Leinster SHC final reversal to Oulart-The Ballagh they still had the reserves of strength and will to battle to victory in difficult conditions against the Larriers.
Ultimately it was their ability to translate chances into goals that separated the sides as Cuala recovered from a poor start to eventually emerge seven-point victors.
O’Toole’s started impressively and led 0-5 to 0-1 after 14 minutes before Jake Malone revived Cuala with a goal and by the interval the sides were on level terms, 1-3 to 0-6.
Cuala upped their game in the second period with Nicky Kenny landing three important points from play while the decisive score game five minutes from time when Con O’Callaghan scored an excellent individual goal to see his side to victory.
