Wexford supporters have every reason to be aggrieved at
their treatment. They would bring 15,000 supporters plus to Thurles for the
quarter final. Limerick fans would turn up much in the same numbers. This game
could have been a stand alone game at Thurles. Everybody assumed when Dublin
drew Tipperary in the quarter final that it would be in some place like
Portlaoise. Surely it is unfair to ask a team to travel to the opponents home
venue for a quarter-final.
Dublin supporters bought tickets for the Leinster football
final last week and intended buying their hurling tickets early this week.
Nobody forersaw that all the stand tickets would be sold out. I believe that
Dublin got less than 500 tickets for club members. Friends of Dublin Hurling
run buses to all Dublin’s away games and expected to have 4 buses. Now the
numbers warrant only 2 buses. I have people cancelling their bookings because
they cannot get a stand ticket. Dublin minors are playing at 12 midday and the
senior game will finish around 5.30. Dublin supporters on the terraces are
expected to stand in probably intense heat for nearly 6 hours. Surely the
Dublin senior game could have been at 2pm. It’s not rocket science you know
