Dublin South juvenile hurlers defeated St Kieran’s College Kilkenny in the Top Oil Leinster PP schools’ juvenile “A” hurling league final this afternoon on a scoreline of 3-9 to 1-8. The Dubs were superior throughout the field in a sunbathed Eire Og pitch Carlow for much of the first half and went into half time with a lead of six points. St Kierans applied pressure early in the second half but two well worked goals for the “South, saw them build up a commanding lead. In the latter part of the second half the young Dubs were forced to defend against the efforts of the Kieran’s players. However, the South’s defence excelled and repelled the Kilkenny onslaught. The kilkenny goal came from a twenty meter free, but try as they might, Kieran’s were unable to breakdown a resolute Dublin defence and the Dubs ran out seven points winners.
Well done to the players on a terrific performance and congrats to team mentors Cian Waldron, Don O Neill and Mike O Dwyer. Special thanks to Colm Burtchaell in Dublin Co Board for all his support.
