
CORK AND DUBLIN BRIDGE 85-YEAR GAP
Cork and Dublin meet in the GAA hurling senior All-Ireland semi-final for the first time for 85 years when they go head-to-head in Croke Park next Sunday (3.30). It will be preceded by the minor semi-final between Kilkenny and Waterford (1.30).
Cork and Dublin met in All-Ireland qualifiers in 2007 and 2008 and they met four times in All-Ireland finals in the 1940s and 1950s but have not clashed in the semi-final since 1928.
Overall, they have met fourteen times in the championship with the results standing at 11-2 in Cork’s favour while there was one draw. Dublin are seeking their first win over Cork in the championship since the 1927 All-Ireland final.
Leinster champions, Dublin are bidding to reach the All-Ireland final for the first time since 1961 while Cork last appeared in the final in 2006.
