Anthony Cunningham has called for another review of the Allianz Hurling League structures after his Galway side relegated Dublin to Division 1B at the weekend.
The Tribe boss contends that Dublin are too good for the second tier and Division 1A next year will be much the poorer without them.
“I hope they look at the system again,” he said after Saturday’s 4-21 to 0-19 playoff replay victory in Portlaoise.
“No disrespect to any other team, but Dublin shouldn’t be down there. Hurling has improved so much in the capital. We need Dublin in the top flight. We needed all those matches in Croke Park under lights.”
Reflecting on his side’s win, Cunningham added: “We were lucky to be a point up at half-time and there was a nice little breeze with us in the first half.
“But the goals made the difference. The second goal Joe (Canning) got gave us a bit of daylight and we kicked on from there. Dublin were chasing the game then.”
