Gradings (proposed): Hurling Championships

Following consideration of two applications received from clubs wishing to be upgraded to SHC A status CCC has decided to recommend the following to the next County Committee meeting;
– That Crumlin be admitted to the SHC ‘A’ championship.
– That Parnell’s be admitted to the SHC ‘B’ championship.
The proposed championship gradings are as below.
In SHC A – 15 entries (UCD have withdrawn their entry) be divided into 4 groups (3 groups of 4 and 1 group of 3) each to play a round robin league competition. The top two teams in the 4 team groups to qualify for the quarter-finals and the bottom team in each 4 team group to play in relegation play-off. The top team in the 3 team group to qualify for quarter-final. The 2nd and 3rd placed teams in the 3 team group to play-off – with winning team to qualify for quarter-final and losing team to play in relegation play-off.
Draw for quarter-final – 1st placed teams v. 2nd placed teams but teams coming from the same group cannot meet. Draw for semi-final – open draw.
Relegation – Open draw – with two losing teams relegated.
All other Hurling championships to be run on a league championship basis as in recent years. Promotion/Relegation to be two up/two down.
