St Jude’s 1-12 Faughs 0-12
THE most genuine of local derbies. Just over the fence from each other — St Jude’s and Faughs, writes Niall Scully(E Herald)
The best of friends. But yesterday brought a critical Dublin SHC ‘A’ Relegation clash. Jude’s were at home, and they won it, 1-12 to 0-12.
Jude’s were three points down at the break. They were the superior side in the second half. Colm Grogan got the vital goal after the interval.
Grogan played brilliantly, moving out from corner-forward to gather plenty of ball on the half-forward line.
IMPRESSED
Half-forward, Danny Sutcliffe, also impressed. He was accurate from the frees, and he also scored a jewel of a point.
Surrounded by a forest of hurls, and with his back to goal, he somehow managed to loft the sliotar over the black spot.
Conditions were difficult for both teams. The ball often got stuck in the Tymon mud. Yet, in the second half in particular, some decent chapters were written.
In the other Relegation Championship fixture, Cuala engineered a handsome away victory against Na Fianna.
