Congrats to Cuala on a wonderful display of all that is good in hurling at Portlaoise last Saturday. Time and time again we hear people say that Dublin hurling lacks skill and passion. After last Saturday nobody can say that again. They now join a very elite group of clubs who have won back to back titles- Sarsfields 92/93, Athenry 01/02, Birr 02/03, Portumna 08/09 and now Cuala 17/18. Thanks Cuala for giving a massive lift to Dublin hurling. They will be back defending their Dublin title in two weeks when they take on St. Brigids. The Dublin championship will be top class this year with Kilmacud Crokes, Ballyboden St. Endas, St. Vincents, Na Fianna – just to mention a few- who would love to knock Cuala off their perch. We saw lots of good things at Croke Park yesterday as Pat Gilroy’s team started off brilliantly but were gradually overhauled by a very skilful Tipp team. Dublin showed that they can play at the top level and hopefully they can learn a lot from the game. Good luck to Chris Crummey who got injured yesterday. The return of a few of the Cuala lads will make a massive difference and Dublin can look forward to playing Kilkenny in the championship in Parnell Park on May 13. Then they are away to Wexford the following Sunday. On June 3rd they are at home to Offaly and on June 9th they are away to Galway. A feast of hurling to look forward to.
