After looking at the weekend results Dublin should revisit the senior championship structure for 2020. Four teams were beaten by 20 points or more. Games like these are of no value to the winners or losers. We have 16 teams in Senior A and 12 teams in Senior B. In reality we don’t have 28 senior teams. Limerick and Kilkenny have only 12 senior teams in the senior championship. Limerick are in their second year of a new championship structure. The top 6 teams are in group A and 4 teams qualify for the knockout stages- 1st and 2nd are through to the semi-finals and 3rd and 4th are through to the quarter finals. The other 2 quarter final slots are filled by the 1st and 2nd teams from group B. The big advantage of such a set up is that there are no very uneven games. It may be worth looking at. Here are the results from last weekend.
Kilmacud Crokes 0-24 Faughs 0-13
Na Fianna 5-24 O’Tooles 0-14
