Dublin hurler, Conal Keaney, has urged Dublin fans to flock to Portlaoise in huge numbers for Saturdays Leinster SHC semi-final against All-Ireland champions Kilkenny (5.0).
We are hoping to have as much Dubling support down to Portlaoise as possible. I would make a plea to clubs and supporters to travel in as large a number as possible, says the Ballyboden St Endas man.
Make yourselves as vocal and colourful as possible with flags and banners. I would encourage all clubs to try to bring down as many underage teams as possible. It could be a truly magical evening for the Dubs. Kilkenny are sure to bring a huge crowd, so lets cover Portlaoise in navy and blue like never before.
Looking ahead to Saturdays showdown with the Cats Keaney is in optimistic mood.
Since Anthony Dalys arrival we have been crowned Division One league champions (last year) and so many new talented players have come on stream. Dublin hurling has progressed a lot and now we are confident of giving a display where we will be hard to beat.
We are also very confident we can get a result which will take us into a Leinster final.
The difference now, from a few years back, is that if we perform to the best of our ability and dont win its not the end of the road. We know we will still blossom in the back door, so even though this is a very important game for Dublin and Kilkenny both counties are very aware that the Liam MacCarthy will not be awarded to the winners after the game on Saturday night.
Our season is only beginning be it through the front door or the back. It is all the same to me once we get to where we want in September.
The curtain-raiser for Saturdays game is the Leinster MHC semi-final meeting of the Dubs and Kilkenny (3.15).
