Kilmacud Crokes produced a dominant extra-time display to overcome St
Jude’s by four points at Parnell Park last night.
St Jude’s raced two points clear with a brace of frees from Fionn Ó
Riain Broin before to Crokes finally opened their account through a fine score
from Barry O’Rorke in the ninth minute.
Ó Riain Broin and Caolán Conway traded scores prior to the latter having
his 14th minute drive superbly repelled by Matt Collins in the Kilmacud goal.
Gradually, the favourites began to enjoy a greater degree of possession
with scores from Sean McGrath and Oisin O’Rorke reflecting their growing
The half ended promisingly for St Jude’s, however, and after Danny
Sutcliffe had registered a sublime point from under the stand, Ó Riain Broin
ensured a 0-5 apiece stalemate at half-time with his fourth free of the night
McGrath inched Kilmacud clear on the restart but their struggles in

However, Kilmacud ensured extra-time as McGrath’s ’65’ was followed by a
levelling score by Damien Kelly in the dying embers of normal time.
Given the reprieve they received, it was not surprising to see Crokes
regroup for extra-time and they enjoyed successive scores through Ryan O’Dwyer
and Cian Mac Gabhann in the opening three minutes. McGrath’s goal in the 69th
minute effectively settled the contest, with Paul Maguire’s late goal arriving
too late for Jude’s.
