FORMER Clare hurler Tony Griffin donned a Dublin tracksuit in Bellefield, although he has not been given an official managerial role by Anthony Daly.
Griffin was among the Dublin selectors as Daly’s men won the second Walsh Cup of his reign, prompting speculation he is primed to become part of his former Clare captain and manager’s backroom team.
But management have said that although he will have a presence among the squad at different intervals this year, he has not been enlisted in any official capacity.
Griffin (32) hasn’t played for Clare since 2009 when he retired from inter-county hurling, citing “lack of confidence”, in the then management. He was an All Star in 2006 before taking a year out. As yet, Daly has declined to officially add to his selectors, despite the decisions of John McEvoy and Vincent Teehan to step down.
