Col Eoin 5-12 Portlaoise 2-2
Col Eoin are Leinster juvenile “B” hurling champions for the second successive year after a comprehenssive win over Portlaoise in the final in Dr Cullen Park Carlow. Captain, Oisín Ó Ruairc, lead the way for the Stillorgan side and finished with a personal tally of 4-6. The Col Eoin players were superior in all positions and Ó Ruairc was ably assisted in the full forward line by Colm O Néill and Conor Ó Duibhir.
The Dublin side went in at half time leading by 2-8 to 0-2. Laois hopes were raised a minute into the second half when full forward Gary Bergin scored a fine goal. However, Col Eoin contnued to dominate the game and the “Eoin” defence, in particular Colm Ó Crónín and Odhrán Ó Sioxrú, repelled any danger from the Portlaoise forward line.
Many of the Col Eoin players will feature on the Dublin South combined schools’ team that takes on St Kieran’s CVol in the Leinster juvenile “A” (Dr Barry Cup) final on Tuesday in Dr Cullen Park @ 1pm.
