Hard luck on our young minor team who had a difficult day in Croke Park yesterday. They started well and were in control for the first 10 minutes. Unfortunately they were not able to build up a decent lead during that time of dominance. Matty Murphy referred to that in his after the game interview when he said that Dublin could have been up by four points to one at one stage. Unfortunately we had a few bad wides and then Galway got into the game and grew in confidence as the game progressed. It is often said that you have to lose before you win and hopefully that is the same for Dublin. Shay Boland was upbeat after the game and said that fifteen of the panel are young enough for next year.
Thanks to all our young players for giving us some great moments during the Summer and they can be proud of their achievements. We look forward to many better days.
Poor refereeing decisions in the first half especially did not help us. The ref was inconsistent in his application of the rules and at one stage the crowd expressed their dissatisfaction with his performance. He gave Dublin a few soft frees at the end but that doesn’t make up for bad calls in the first half.
