Hiney begins on recovery road
Dublin’s wing-back undergoes reconstructive knee surgery STEPHEN HINEY has taken the first major step on the road to an inter-county comeback next year after undergoing reconstructive knee surgery last weekend. The stricken Dublin skipper has been a frustrated spectator for much of what’s transpired to be a history-making season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during an Allianz League match away to Wexford last March. But following an operation performed by top knee surgeon Ray Moran at the Santry Clinic, Hiney has now set his sights on making a complete recovery and a return to the Dublin squad in 2012....
More injury woes for Dublin
Dublin have been rocked by the news that full back Tom Brady has suffered the dreaded cruciate knee injury and David Treacy will be out for 4-5 weeks with a hamstring tear. Brady only recently returned from a medial ligament injury to his other knee, but the powerhouse full back landed badly on his “good” knee when competing for a high ball with Joe Canning on Saturday. David Treacy and Shane Stapleton both suffered similar injuries late last season, while Alan McCrabbe, an All Star in 2009, is recovering from surgery to...

Dublin 3-21Wexford 2-15 Monday March 14 2011 Dublin’s victory over Wexford moved them to the top of the table but came at a cost, as defender Stephen Hiney was carried off with a knee injury that may force him to miss the rest of the campaign. David O’Callaghan, who came in as a late replacement, proved his value with a stunning hat-trick that set up Anthony Daly’s high-fliers for a nine-point victory. Dublin were physically stronger, much quicker to the breaking ball, while their first touch was excellent, picking off some huge scores in the process. The only blight was...
