What a great loss to Dublin Hurling? His total commitment to his club and county was admirable. He played in a few different positions on the field and always held his own. He was an inspiring captain and led by example. We feared that the cruciate accident he had in Wexford Park at a league game may have ended his career. But not so as he came back better and stronger. Two games stand out for me. One was the Leinster semi-final replay versus Kilkenny in Portlaoise in 2012. On the night he didn’t give the great Eoin Larkin a puck of the ball. He followed that up with a towering display against Galway in the Leinster final. He has been a great role model for all Dublin hurlers. Hopefully after a short rest he may return to a mentor’s role. Thanks for the memories Stephen.
