UCD will take on UCC in the Fitzgibbon Cup semi-final after making sure of their passage to finals weekend in GMIT with a 1-16 to 0-17 win over UL in Belfield.
Dubs Rory O’Carroll, Bill O’Carroll, Oisín Gough and Jack Dougan all started for UCD as they clawed back a four-point deficit thanks chiefly, to some fine goalkeeping from Wexford native Brian Murphy and the clinical freetaking of Tipperary’s Noel McGrath (0-12, 11f). Nicky English’s men will now meet the current holders UCC on Friday, March 1st for a crack at their first Fitzbiggon title since 2011.
