On a terrific for hurling in the capital the under-14 Ballyboden St Enda’s hurlers captured the coveted Christy Ring Cup as Féile na nGael Division 1 champions on Sunday in Limerick.
Sunday was the second occasion in their history that Boden were crowned top-flight champions – their previous success coming in 1992.
Their weekend odyssey began with a 4-11 to 0-4 victory over Ahane (Limerick) on Friday evening and they following this up with wins on Saturday when overcoming Limerick’s Monaleen (5-8 to 1-3) and Clare’s Inagh Kilnamona (1-7 to 1-3) to progress to the semi-finals.
Waterford’s Abbeyside were no match for the Firhouse Road lads as Boden ran out comfortable winners, 2-12 to 0-4 to set up their decider against Cork’s Douglas whom they put four goals past in their 4-2 to 0-4 glory to see their captain Ross McCormack raise the Christy Ring Cup.
