ST BRIGID’S 2-15 CRAOBH CHIARAIN 2-10
Two first half goals helped Brigid’s to victory in this Evening Herald Dublin SHC ‘A’ first round clash at Parnell Park on Saturday afternoon.
A first minute strike from Stephen Callanan and 26th minute goal from Brendan McEnerney were crucial to the Russell Park side’s impressive opening half during which John O’Loughlin’s physical presence kept Chiarain’s on the back foot to see his side lead 2-8 to 0-6, with Paddy McAvinue converting four frees, before Keith Ryan’s goal lifted Craobh’s hopes towards the close of the half following a penetrative run from Luke Jackson.
The Donnycarney side restarted the second half the better with the accuracy of Alan McCrabbe from deadball cutting into the deficit. However, Brigid’s rally as the half progressed with Conor Ryan and Aodhan McEnerney winning some crucial ball and Dublin senior Daire Plunkett lofted over two long-range scores to re-establish Brigid’s supremacy with the lively Kieran Kellett and Brendan McEnerney also showing good accuracy.
Brigid’s progress to face St Vincent’s in the quarter-finals.
