The third annual FODH “Celebration of Dublin Hurling” was held in the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel on Friday night, The attendance included senior players, mentors from the senior, u21,various county squads, club representatives, the media and members of Friends of Dublin Hurling. Special guests on the night were the members of the 1965 all-Ireland Dublin minor hurling winning team and the Dublin u21 team that lost out narrowly in the 1967 final. The clubs that scooped the “Club of the Year” awards were as follows:
Senior Club of the Year – Na Fianna
Intermediate Club of the Year – Thomas Davis
Junior Club of the Year – Good Counsel.
The senior “Hurler of the Year” award for 2009 went to current all-star Alan McCrabbe and Cuala player, David Treacy, was voted “Young Player of the Year”. Many thanks to all the members of FODH who voted for the player of the year awards.
The “Hall of Fame” award for 2009 went to Na Fianna’s Jimmy Gray in recognition of his contribution to hurling in the county as a player, manager and administrator. Chairman of FODH, Michael O’Grady, presented this award to Jimmy, and congratulated all the winners on the night.
