Dublin South colleges’ senior hurlers reached the Leinster colleges’ senior “A” hurling semi-final by virtue of a hard fought victory over St Mary’s, Enniscorthy in the quarter-final played in Carlow. The “South” had the better of the first half exchanges and went in at the break leading by 0-10 to 0-4.
However, the Wexford school came right back into contention in the second half and scored three goals. With eight minutes remaining, the Dubs were ahead by just two points, but they held out for a victory and a place in the semi-final on the 7th March against Castlecomer CS
The Dublin side will be concerned by the concession of the second half goals. In a game of good hurling and top quality scores, they will be encouraged by the performances of full forward Seanie McGrath and midfielder Kevin O Loughlin who each scored five points.
