Manager Ger Cunningham is really looking forward to the 2017 hurling season. ‘We have added some of last year’s under 21 team to the panel and we are really impressed by their enthusiasm and commitment. Obviously the Cuala contingent will be greatly missed but it will give a chance to other players to show what they are made of. Needless to say our first target is to retain Division One status’.
The Dublin manager has brought on board another Ger Cunningham to assist with coaching the team. This Ger is a Limerick man who has vast coaching experience. Among his achievements are winning the All-Ireland club championship with Newtownshandrum, helping Thurles Sarsfields win a county title after a long break and coaching University of Limerick to win the Fitzgibbon Cup. He is an excellent skills coach and hopefully will add value to this young Dublin team.
Dublin will be at home to Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny and away to Cork and Clare. There is no easy match here but for the last four years Dublin have survived in Div One and hopefully this run can continue.
