NH FIONNBARRA 1-19 ST PAT’S, PALMERSTOWN 3-12
A Stephen Costello free in the third minute of injury-time saw Finbarr’s capture the Dublin SHC ‘B’ final in dramatic fashion at Parnell Park on Sunday afternoon.
Costello finished with a personal tally of 1-11 as the Barr’s recovered from being blitzed at the start of the second half to claim the honours.
The Cabra men led 1-11 to 1-6 at the break but Pat’s hit 2-2 without reply as they improved massively on their first half showing to move 3-8 to 1-11 in front by the 41st minute.
Peter Keaney grabbed the first of these goals for Pat’s following good play by Barry O’Hanlon and Shane Stapleton, who tallied 2-8 overall, put the finish on an excellent move by raising their third green flag of the afternoon.
But Barr’s were not for relenting as a superb Eamonn Dillon point inspired his side with two Costello frees cutting the deficit to two points entering the concluding ten minutes.
A draw looked on the cards following Stapleton’s 90-metre free in the second minute of injury-time, however, Barr’s were awarded a late, late opportunity of a winner which Costello took to snatch victory.
