Jimmy Gray was declared the 2009 Hall of Fame Winner at The Friends of Dublin Awards Night at the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel on Friday November 13th 2009. Jimmy got a standing ovation from a full house when he was named. Jimmy starred in goal for the Dublin team in the 50’s and 60’s and was so near to winning an All-Ireland medal in 1961 when narrowly defeated by Tipperary. Jimmy was chairman of the Dublin Co. Board and of the Leinster Council. He also refereed intercounty games. Jimmy, a Fianna man all his life, is still very active and is a member of the FODH committee. He attends all Dublin’s games. He said that he wa honoured to receive the award and felt humbled to be mentioned in the same company as Lar Foley and Jimmy Boggan.
