Naomh Barróg were crowned Leinster Special Junior Hurling Champions after overcoming Rataoth in the final.
The hosts had won their previous Leinster championship ties at their home venue. However, the Kilbarrack side ignored the form book from the moment Emmet McCabe opened the scoring with a point from a 30 metre free. Two first half points from full-forward Paul Garbutt saw Barróg lead on a score of 0-5 to 0-4.
The score that tilted the game in Barrog’s favour came in the 10th minute of the second half. After a high ball broke in the Rataoth goalmouth, corner forward Dermot O Donnell knocked a terrific ground shot to the net. Emmet McCabe struck over a superb long range point late on to ensure that the Leinster Junior Hurling trophy was on its way to Kilbarrack.
