KILKENNY 2-13 DUBLIN 0-9
A strong first half performance saw Kikenny send Dublin down the qualifier route after this ESB Leinster MHC quarter-final at Nowlan Park, Kilkenny on Saturday afternoon.
Dublin face Carlow (victors over Kildare) on May 15 at Dr Cullen Park with the winners progressing to enjoy home advantage for their provincial semi-final against Wexford on June 26.
Two first half goals saw an impressive Kilkenny side open up a ten-point lead by the break and they were never in any trouble.
The first goal arrived in the tenth minute when John Power set up Ger Aylward who fired past Eamon Dillon. Shortly before half-time the Cats struck for goal again when corner-forward Thomas O’Hanrahan applied the finishing touch to a well crafted move.
Dublin began with Danny Sutcliffe operating as an extra defender but moved him out the field later in the half and the display of the side improved while Seán McClelland, Glenn Whelan were among the better performers for the Dubs.
Ciarán Kilkenny created a goal chance for Dublin with ten minutes to go but had his dipping drive brilliantly saved by keeper Dylan Walsh.
