COLÁISTE EOIN 3-19
WEXFORD SCHOOLS 1-21
(After extra-time)
Coláiste Eoin recovered from a 10-point interval deficit to overcome Wexford Schools after extra-time in a thrilling quarter-final at Bray Emmets.
The Dublin gaelscoil opened the scoring through Fergal de Fuitléigh in the opening minute, but the impressive Alan Murphy kept Wexford in touch.
Murphy hit six points in the first half and Sean Stafford’s 28th-minute goal gave Wexford a 1-11 to 0-4 interval lead.
Coláiste Eoin hit back with quickfire goals from Colm Ó Neill and Conn Ó Ceallacháin and Rian Mac Giolla Bhríde levelled it. Wexford regrouped and two Murphy frees and a late score from Stafford looked to have secured victory, but sub Stiofán Ó Duibhir levelled matters in injury-time.
In extra-time, Ó Duibhir flicked home from close range and a point from Jake Ó Maoileoin inched the Stillorgan outfit a point clear. Coláiste Eoin then added to their tally through Ó Ceallacháin and Dara Ó Gallchobhair.
