Dublin footballer Shane Ryan has ruled himself out of any intercounty return to hurling. Having dedicated himself to football at intercounty level for the past seven seasons, he has indicated that any change of direction at this stage of his career to join Anthony Daly’s squad is unlikely.
However he has saluted the appointment of Daly as the new hurling boss. “Having someone like him (Daly) coming from an All-Ireland winning set-up in the recent past and thinking of what he can bring to the table, its going to be a huge boost for hurling in Dublin” said Ryan.
On one of his last appearances in a Dublin senior hurling shirt, the Naomh Mearnóg player scored 1-8 against Antrim in a NHL Division 1 relegation game in 2001, a game won by the Dubs on a scoreline of 5-12 to 0-15.
