Well done to our seniors who defeated Laois on Saturday and now move on to play Limerick. Even though the win was comprehensive still Dublin failed to put Laois away for a long time in spite of the fact that they were assisted by a strong wind. After the game Dublin fans were asking why more balls weren’t hit into the full forward line where Mark Schutte and Conal Keaney were in form. Mark got two goals in the first ten minutes from long balls that were deliberately hit to him. He made the third goal with a wonderful pass to Conal Keaney. Dublin resorted to short passing in the second half when the ball should have been doing the work. Kilkenny showed yesterday how to use the long ball. Once a defender was on his own he hit the ball as far as he could and the forwards appreciate fast ball. Dublin will need to up their game if they want to progress to the quarter finals.
Hard luck on our minors who played really well and were caught in the last two minutes. While defeat is never easy to take this team has a good future and a few players will be in contention for places on the senior team before long.
Our camogie team put up a great performance and fought back from an eight point deficit to equalise with five minutes to go. Unfortunately, they could get the winning point and Tipp broke down the field to get a point. The Dublin supporters were brilliant and the players really appreciated the vocal support. Dublin are away to Clare and Derry now and need two wins to get into the quarter finals.
